Restoring Deleted Records

Apr 10, 2026

SalesKey keeps recently deleted records in a restore queue for a period of time before permanently removing them. If you accidentally delete a contact, lead, deal, project, activity, or timesheet entry, an administrator can recover it.

Navigate to: Settings > Restore

Admin only: Only users with administrator permissions can access the Restore section.

What Can Be Restored?

The following record types can be restored after deletion:

Record Type Restore Location
People (Contacts) Settings > Restore > People
Organizations Settings > Restore > Organizations
Leads Settings > Restore > Leads
Deals Settings > Restore > Deals
Projects Settings > Restore > Projects
Activities Settings > Restore > Activities
Timesheet Entries Settings > Restore > Timesheets

How to Restore a Deleted Record

  1. Go to Settings > Restore.
  2. Select the record type from the tabs or dropdown (e.g., People, Deals).
  3. Browse or search for the deleted record by name, date deleted, or deleted by.
  4. Click Restore next to the record you want to recover.
  5. Confirm the restore action.

The record will be returned to its original location with all its data intact, including linked records, notes, and attachments.

Retention Period

Deleted records are kept in the restore queue for 30 days. After 30 days, they are permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

Tip: If you need to recover a record older than 30 days, contact SalesKey support — recovery may be possible from backups depending on your plan.

Bulk Restore

To restore multiple records at once:

  1. Go to Settings > Restore.
  2. Select the record type.
  3. Check the boxes next to the records you want to restore.
  4. Click Restore Selected.
  5. Confirm.

Permanent Deletion

To permanently delete a record before the 30-day retention period expires:

  1. Go to Settings > Restore.
  2. Find the record.
  3. Click Delete Permanently.
  4. Confirm. This action cannot be undone.

Tips

  • Act quickly — The sooner you restore a record, the less data reconciliation is needed.
  • Check linked records — After restoring, verify that linked records (e.g., activities linked to a restored deal) are also intact.
  • Audit deletions — Use the "Deleted By" column to identify who deleted the record and whether it was accidental.
