Creating a New Deal Manually

  1. Click the + New Deal (or Add) button.
  2. Fill in the deal details:
    • Title (required) — A clear name, e.g., "Annual License – Acme Corp"
    • Pipeline — Select the pipeline this deal belongs to
    • Stage — Choose the starting stage (defaults to the first stage)
    • Value — Expected deal amount
    • Currency — Currency for this deal
    • Expected Close Date — Target close date
    • Source Channel — Where this deal came from
    • Person — Link to an existing contact
    • Organization — Link to an existing company
    • Assignee(s) — Who is responsible for this deal
    • Labels — Categorization tags
    • Custom Fields — Any additional fields your admin has configured
  3. Click Save to create the deal.

Creating a Deal from a Lead (Conversion)

The most common way to create a deal is by converting a qualified lead. See Converting a Lead to a Deal for full details.


Creating a Deal from a Contact

  1. Open a Person or Organization profile.
  2. Find the Deals section.
  3. Click Add Deal.
  4. Fill in the deal details — the contact will be pre-linked.
  5. Click Save.

Tips for Creating Good Deal Records

  • Be specific in the title — Include the company name and what you are selling. This helps in list views.
  • Always set an expected close date — This is essential for pipeline forecasting and reports.
  • Set the correct pipeline from the start — Moving a deal between pipelines later is possible but can cause confusion.
  • Assign an owner — Unassigned deals can be missed. Always have a clear owner.
  • Link to a contact and organization — This connects the deal to your CRM history for a 360° view.

Deals Created via Workflows

Deals can also be created automatically when specific conditions are met in your workflow automations. Contact your administrator to set up deal creation workflows. See Workflows and Automation.
